Interest-Free Island Student Loan program for PEI students

A zero percent interest rate on the Provincial Student Loan program began October 1, 2012.  The program applies to PEI student loans issued after January 1, 2001 and held by the PEI Student Financial Assistance Corporation. Learn more / Watch the video

Applications for the 2013-2014 academic year will be available early June 2013.


 
How to Cash your Canada Student Loan [PDF]

Please open the link to the Pre-Study Report and read the attached information flyer for more information and the next steps, in the student loan process. 

If you are eligible for a Prince Edward Island Student Loan, you must complete and submit the Pre-Study Report. Please ensure that all required supporting documentation is included with your form. Do not submit your pre-study report before you begin your classes. It is to be submitted only when your classes begin.


Having technical issues with your online application?

The online application form is only supported with Microsoft Internet Explorer (4.0 or higher) and may not function properly with other browsers.  If you are having difficulties with the online application form, please confirm that you are using Internet Explorer before contacting our office for assistance.
Apply now for a student loan for the 2012-2013 academic year (for classes starting after August 1, 2012) using the online application.


Student Financial Services will now be notifying students of their assessments by email correspondence.  Please ensure that our office has your correct email address.  You may refer to the Information Guide and Forms page for relevant forms.

Use online services to apply for a 2012-2013 student loan or to check the status of your current loan.  If you experience technical difficulties please ensure your browser meets the technical requirements.

Important Deadline Dates

  • July 13, 2012 correctly completed student loan applications must be received by this date to guarantee processing for a September 2012 start date.  If submitting applications online, the signed Tax Consent and Declaration Form(s) must be received by Student Financial Services on or before this date to finalize your application for processing.  Note: an Academic Information Form is also required from all students studying outside the Atlantic Provinces.

  • November 26, 2012 was the deadline for full year funding.  All applications received after this date will be assessed for second semester funding only.

  • March 8, 2013 for second semester financial assistance.  Any application received after this deadline will not be considered.  The same deadline applies and are not extended for Pre-Study Report forms and Appeal forms.

Processing can take up to 6 weeks from the time we receive your completed application and supporting documentation. Deadline dates are strictly enforced.  No exceptions
